Strategies to get the perfect vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- To book the largest vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Havelock restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
How to pick the perfect rental:
- Select your vacation week and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. UPDATED CONDO WITH GREAT OCEAN VIEWS. EASY BEACH OR POOL ACCESS has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
