Tips to get the best vacation home experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Havelock area. To find the most suitable rental home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies supply Havelock area visitors guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and choosing your prefect Havelock rental home:

  • Choose vacation dates and budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. PET FRIENDLY rooms available, short walk to Historic Beaufort Waterfront has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. If not, reach out to the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
