Strategies to get the optimal vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose your Havelock rental home:
- Select vacation week and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Great location - 2nd row, 2 kitchens, oceanviews, heated pool & volleyball Ct has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of concerns.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. message the rental manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
