Our top Vacation rental tips:
Get the most from your budget:
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Book your Havelock rental home in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many management companies supply Havelock area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and picking yourvacation home:
- First, have your family commit to a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. A Place at the Beach 319 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If not, call the host before booking the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Additional considerations:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
