Our top Vacation rental tips:
When to reserve a Havelock rental home & When to go:
- June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Finding the perfect vacation home in the Havelock area:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Amenities GALORE! Private pool, hot tub, elevator and MORE! has 6 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's an individual Havelock attraction you love, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
