Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summertime is high season in the Havelock area. Booking in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning and picking the perfect Havelock rental:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Beautiful 5 BR Soundfront home featuring Boat Slip, Saline Pool, Fire Pit, Hot T has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. If not, email the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or might be applied to your agreement.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the rental manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
