Strategies to get the best vacation rental experience:
Finding the best value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Havelock area. To book the most suitable rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Havelock attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking the rightvacation home:
- Choose vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Nina Street House, Oceanside House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If not, email the host before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your trip.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many difficulties.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
