Tips and Tricks for getting the best Emerald Isle rental home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Summertime is high season in Emerald Isle. To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Havelock area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Finding the perfect vacation home in the Havelock area:
- To start, have your family select the best dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Nina Street House, Oceanside House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a specific Havelock destination you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
