Tips to get the very best Havelock rental home experience:
When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the most suitable rental within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, property management companies supply Havelock area travel guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Sound of the Sea West 115 - Almost Oceanfront 2 BR 2 BA Condo has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
Have a great stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
