Finding the best vacation property experience:

When to book a Havelock rental home & When to go:

  • The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • To book the most suitable rental home within budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Havelock restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • To start, have your group select trip dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Surf Capsule suite - coastal retreat in iconic Atlantic Beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Havelock attraction you are crazy about, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
