Finding the best vacation home experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- In the Havelock area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose vacation dates and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Nymphe De Mer (Sea Nymph) has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
