Getting the best Havelock vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your Havelock vacation home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. The Blue Dolphin has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
