Tips and Tricks to get the best Emerald Isle vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Emerald Isle. Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Choosing and booking a perfect Havelock vacation home:

  • First, have your family decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Eyes of the Ocean - Short walk to beach, close to everything in Emerald Isle! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's a certain Havelock beach you crave, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
