Tricks and tips to get the best vacation home experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Booking in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose and book the best Havelock rental home:
- To start, have your family decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Walk to beaches from 2nd floor 2 bed 2 bath apt has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
